The TARMAC quarry in Shawkah, UAE has recently taken delivery of a new NIROX RG 902 heavy duty rotary grizzly. This unit is key to expanding the quarry’s annual output from 3 million to 8 million tonnes. This project was custom designed by NIROX to meet the requirements of the site including the concrete walls upon which the plant is mounted as well as the stair, walkways and safety rails.
Capable of accepting a 1.5M lump size and being fed by 60 tonne rigid dump trucks the large 90 tonne hopper is fitted with a reciprocating tray feeder with adjustable speed and an adjustable stroke (set by limit switches).
The 2.3M internal diameter drum make this one of the largest capacity trommels in the world and the largest currently operating in the UAE. First splitting the material at -60mm and then at 150mm, the RG 902 ensures that only clean rock is going to the main crushing plant. This reduces wearing and greatly increases crushing efficiency which in turn translates into lower cost and higher profits. The -60mm material is sold as basic filler material and the -60 to 150mm can be sold a high spec sub base or sent to the crusher as clean feed with the rest of the pre-scalped rock.
With demand as strong as ever in the Gulf region the RG 902 is being operated continuously on a 24 hour basis.
